Green School – Our Story So Far

We are so proud to currently have five Green Flags for Litter and Waste, Energy, Water, Travel and Biodiversity in our school. Ms. Mannion and Ms. O’Carroll worked hard to achieve these flags over the last number of years.

We have a wonderful Green School Committee with one member from each First and Second Class.

Ms. Casey and the Green School Committee are continuing to keep up the good work in our school. The Green School Committee visit other classes on a regular basis to make sure we are doing all we can to help the environment. This includes bringing home wrappers and waste from our lunchboxes, remembering to save both electricity and water at school, using reusable water bottles and walking, scooting or cycling to school where possible.

We recently held a poster competition to revise the themes of our previous Green Flags and were so impressed with all the entries.

We are so lucky to have the fantastic resource of our school garden. We hope to do lots of planting and take part in nature trails there in the coming weeks.

We hope to keep up our great work and work towards our sixth green flag on the theme of ‘Global Citizenship: Litter and Waste’ next year.
